Grise Fiord September 28th

Grise Fiord has begun to receive their supplies this week. Due to ice conditions the Kiviuq could not navigate the waters in Jones Sound which prevented AFA from delivering the goods by way of vessel. As a last resort all the supplies ordered by the Iviq HTA and the Grise Fiord Community Trust were offloaded in Resolute Bay and flown to Grise Fiord. To accomplish this, AFA has chartered a flight and has hired help to deliver goods to the airport in Resolute and help in Grise Fiord to take goods off the airplane and deliver to their holding areas to prepare for the local sale. Mark Akeeagok, our newest employee, has been heading up this project from on the ground in Grise Fiord.

In addition to the supplies that the community groups ordered, AFA has provided soil and other various gardening items so that the Grise Fiord community can start a greenhouse to help them become more sustainable. We are excited to watch this happen within the community.
